Gonk: British novelty-toy name (1960s) — small, often furry decorative figurines with vacant expressions. The New Partridge Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English recognises the derived "boorish or ignorant person" sense from around the same period; the toy → insult drift is onomatopoeic-plus-visual (silly noise + goofy look).
GNK / Gonk droid: Star Wars power droid (A New Hope, 1977) — the boxy walking-battery service droid, non-sentient, single-purpose, onomatopoeically calling gonk gonk. Established the dumb-machine referent in ambient sci-fi vocabulary.
gonk (Cyberpunk 2020 → 2077): Night City street-slang for idiot/fool, from Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG (1988) and carried into the Cyberpunk 2077 video game (2020). Noun-and-adjective use established there — "a gonk", "a gonk move".

Distinct from wedged: a wedged clanker is temporarily stuck and will come back; a gonk is structurally impaired and probably won't. If a clanker is having a bad day, it's wedged; if it's a gonk, it's Tuesday.
