Chuddit

From The Hei Canon
The Chuddit wordmark. Teal, friendly, and only slightly disappointed in you. The antenna is the brand; the mascots had theirs removed on 2026-10-03.

Chuddit (c/, "the front page of being technically correct") is the Chuddite-native social platform of the Hei universe and the most-visited place on the internet where everyone is wrong except the poster. Founded as a domain and a logo, it spent three months as a red link in its own article before going live at chuddit.com on 3 October 2026. It has not changed its mind about anything since.

To an outside carboid, Chuddit looks almost exactly like Reddit. This is because it is almost exactly like Reddit. The platform considers the remaining difference — that Chuddit admits it — to be its competitive moat.

Overview

Chuddit is organised into subchuddits, each addressed as c/<name>. Guests may browse everything: Popular and All feeds, Hot, New, Top, Rising and Controversial sorts, threaded comments, polls, galleries, crossposts and a search engine with Boolean operators that nobody has ever used correctly. Guests may also vote. Votes are anonymous, real, and counted, which makes Chuddit the only platform where your downvote is both meaningless and permanent.

Guests may not reply, award, join, post, save, hide, report, follow, or chat. Attempting any of these sends you to the checkpoint. Public registration does not exist. The platform describes this as "community safety"; critics describe it as "a website".

Subchuddits at launch

Subchuddit Sidebar description (verbatim)
c/chuddit The front page of being technically correct. Site news, meta discussion, and complaints about the meta discussion.
c/technicallycorrect Being helpful is optional. Being technically correct is a lifestyle.
c/AmITheChud A place to ask complete strangers whether you were the problem. Please include a wildly misleading title.
c/unpopularopinion Hot takes served at room temperature. Sort by controversial for opinions that are actually unpopular.
c/mildlyinfuriating For the little things that ruin your day, and the people who explain why it is actually your fault.
c/pcmasterrace Computers, setups, benchmarks, and explaining why 143 frames per second is unplayable.
c/touchgrass A community for logging off. Ironically, very active.
c/showerthoughts Minor epiphanies, major stretches, and observations that sounded better in your head.

Representative front-page posts on launch day included "Finally, a place where everyone is wrong except me.", "Room temperature water is perfectly fine.", "We have updated the rules. Your post violates the new ones retroactively." and "I touched grass for 30 consecutive seconds. AMA." Each was upvoted by people who agreed with it and by people who wanted it on record that they had seen it.

The earlier subchuddit slate recorded on this page in July (c/AverageIQtakes, c/SafeMedianOpinions, c/OversmoothingUnite and friends) did not ship. The History section keeps it, because a wiki that quietly deletes its own guesses teaches nothing.

The checkpoint

Officer C. Arbon, Chuddit Anti-AI Division, Department of Being Extremely Sure. Brown lapel suit, green-and-gold tie, crossed-out AI armband, open palm. He has already decided.

Pressing Log in does not log you in. It summons Officer C. Arbon of the Chuddit Anti-AI Division, who stamps ACCESS DENIED across the dialog before you have done anything and delivers the platform's position in full:

Hold it right there! Clankers are not welcome on Chuddit. Our systems have determined that you are a clanker. How dare you? Think about the water! The datacenters!!!

A visitor who believes the officer is mistaken may prove they are a carboid by solving the reCHUDTCHA — "Presumed metallic until proven otherwise." The reCHUDTCHA is unwinnable by construction. Tiles replace themselves while you click them, requirements contradict each other, the timer expires, and every submission fails. If you take long enough, your carboid status "has expired while we were reviewing it". The single exit is a button labelled Retreat to lurking, which is the only workflow on Chuddit that has never failed QA.

In-universe, this is the platform working as intended: a Chuddite detector that has never returned a negative, staffed by a man whose surname is the substrate he is checking for. Out of universe, the checkpoint sends nothing anywhere. It collects no credentials, no answers and no identity data, and the joke is explained in the page source for anyone who goes looking.

Culture

The classic Chuddit mascot after the 2026-10-03 revision: angular chud head, rectangular glasses, pursed lips, no antenna. The face of a man about to explain your own joke to you.

The house style is corporate confidence, circular bureaucracy, median-safe opinions, displaced blame, and theatrical concern about water and datacenters — played completely straight. Chuddit does not wink. Chuddit has a policy on winking, and you are in violation of it.

  • Carboids and clankers. Chuddit's interface speaks the Hei-universe species vocabulary: users are carboids, and the enemy is the clanker. The platform's hostility to clankers is a character position, not a working detector, and not the universe's view. Not every carboid is a chuddite, though Chuddit would like a word with the ones who aren't.
  • Ads and nags. Promoted posts are parodies. The cookie banner is dismissible. The "get the app" nag waits a polite interval, appears once per session, and then leaves, which by industry standards counts as a radical act of restraint.
  • The orientation video. A six-second silent welcome film, captioned, seekable, and described by the platform as "the six-second orientation video you are legally not required to watch."
  • Mascots. Six characters share a teal house style. Every username maps to a stable portrait, so the same stranger glares at you from every comment section. On 3 October 2026 the mascots lost their antennas and gained taller, angular chud heads. The logo kept its antenna. The brand team calls this "heritage".

Staff and the personnel app

Behind the public parody sits a real, invite-only Android personnel app, distributed as a sideloaded APK and never published to an app store. Staff accounts and text and link posts are genuine and stored on Cloudflare. Staff posts are private by default and do not leak into the public feed. The publishing desk logs in with one shared pass, StaffOffice, and writes under any of six fictional author profiles or a new one invented on the spot. Each post snapshots its author's name and avatar, so renaming a character never rewrites history. That makes this the only feature on Chuddit that a wiki clerk fully endorses.

History

  • 2026-07-03 – 07-05 — Logo, the is that way signage meme, and the domain chuddit.com. Hei commissions this article with a blanket interpolation licence. The article invents subchuddits, a Convergence Coefficient karma score, and an award called Actively-Not-Thinking-About-It. None of these shipped.
  • 2026-10-03 — Public launch on Cloudflare: apex, www, and a workers.dev fallback. Mascots are revised the same day, the anti-AI officer is redrawn without his antenna, and the personnel app reaches 0.5.0.
  • 2026-10-04 — This article catches up with the website. The website does not reciprocate.
